CVE-2026-34756

MEDIUM
6.5
CVSS v3
NVD

Description

vLLM is an inference and serving engine for large language models (LLMs). From 0.1.0 to before 0.19.0, a Denial of Service vulnerability exists in the vLLM OpenAI-compatible API server. Due to the lack of an upper bound validation on the n parameter in the ChatCompletionRequest and CompletionRequest Pydantic models, an unauthenticated attacker can send a single HTTP request with an astronomically large n value. This completely blocks the Python asyncio event loop and causes immediate Out-Of-Memory crashes by allocating millions of request object copies in the heap before the request even reaches the scheduling queue. This vulnerability is fixed in 0.19.0.

Common questions

How do I fix CVE-2026-34756?

Published advisories record a fix for 14 affected products. The "How to fix" section on this page lists the fixed version and source advisory for each one, so apply the entry matching what you actually run.

Is CVE-2026-34756 being actively exploited?

Not that we know of. CVE-2026-34756 is not in the CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog. Its EPSS score of 0.77% is the estimated probability that it will be exploited in the next 30 days. That is higher than 54% of all scored CVEs.

How severe is CVE-2026-34756?

CVE-2026-34756 has a CVSS v3 base score of 6.5, rated medium. CVSS rates the technical impact if the vulnerability is exploited, not how likely that is, so weigh it alongside the exploit-prediction score when you decide what to patch first.

What does CVE-2026-34756 affect?

Published advisories record a fix for registry.redhat.io/rhaii/vllm (Red Hat / RHEL), registry.redhat.io/rhaii/vllm (Rocky), registry.redhat.io/rhaiis/vllm (Red Hat / RHEL), registry.redhat.io/rhaiis/vllm (Rocky), and 10 more. Only products with a sourced advisory are listed, so treat this as what we can cite rather than a complete inventory.
