CVE-2026-116694

MEDIUM
6.3
CVSS v4
NVD

Description

OpenTelemetry Python provides the Python API and SDK for OpenTelemetry. Prior to 1.45.0, JaegerPropagator.extract() in opentelemetry-propagator-jaeger processes inbound uberctx-* baggage values without entry, per-entry byte, or total-byte limits. Services that enable the optional Jaeger propagator can perform unnecessary CPU work and short-lived heap allocations when an untrusted carrier supplies numerous or oversized values, contributing to denial of service when transport-level limits do not constrain the input. Common default Python HTTP server limits reduce the practical impact, while custom getters, non-HTTP transports, or raised header limits increase exposure. This issue is fixed in version 1.45.0.

Common questions

How do I fix CVE-2026-116694?

Upgrade python-opentelemetry on debian unstable to 1.45.1-1 or later.

Is CVE-2026-116694 being actively exploited?

Not that we know of. CVE-2026-116694 is not in the CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog. Its EPSS score of 0.38% is the estimated probability that it will be exploited in the next 30 days. That is higher than 32% of all scored CVEs.

How severe is CVE-2026-116694?

CVE-2026-116694 has a CVSS v4 base score of 6.3, rated medium. CVSS rates the technical impact if the vulnerability is exploited, not how likely that is, so weigh it alongside the exploit-prediction score when you decide what to patch first.

What does CVE-2026-116694 affect?

Published advisories record a fix for python-opentelemetry (Debian). Only products with a sourced advisory are listed, so treat this as what we can cite rather than a complete inventory.
