CVE-2026-64162
CRITICALDescription
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: idpf: fix read_dev_clk_lock spinlock init in idpf_ptp_init() In idpf_ptp_init(), read_dev_clk_lock is initialized after ptp_schedule_worker() had already been called (and after idpf_ptp_settime64() could reach the lock). The PTP aux worker fires immediately upon scheduling and can call into idpf_ptp_read_src_clk_reg_direct(), which takes spin_lock(&ptp->read_dev_clk_lock) on an uninitialized lock, triggering the lockdep "non-static key" warning: [12973.796587] idpf 0000:83:00.0: Device HW Reset initiated [12974.094507] INFO: trying to register non-static key. ... How do I fix CVE-2026-64162?
Published advisories record a fix for 206 affected products. The "How to fix" section on this page lists the fixed version and source advisory for each one, so apply the entry matching what you actually run.
Is CVE-2026-64162 being actively exploited?
Not that we know of. CVE-2026-64162 is not in the CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog. Its EPSS score of 0.43% is the estimated probability that it will be exploited in the next 30 days. That is higher than 38% of all scored CVEs.
How severe is CVE-2026-64162?
CVE-2026-64162 has a CVSS v3 base score of 9.8, rated critical. CVSS rates the technical impact if the vulnerability is exploited, not how likely that is, so weigh it alongside the exploit-prediction score when you decide what to patch first.
What does CVE-2026-64162 affect?
Published advisories record a fix for linux (Debian), kernel (Red Hat / RHEL), kernel (Rocky), kernel-64k (Rocky), and 202 more. Only products with a sourced advisory are listed, so treat this as what we can cite rather than a complete inventory.
