CVE-2026-35361

LOW
3.4
CVSS v3
NVD

Description

The mknod utility in uutils coreutils fails to handle security labels atomically by creating device nodes before setting the SELinux context. If labeling fails, the utility attempts cleanup using std::fs::remove_dir, which cannot remove device nodes or FIFOs. This leaves mislabeled nodes behind with incorrect default contexts, potentially allowing unauthorized access to device nodes that should have been restricted by mandatory access controls.

Common questions

How do I fix CVE-2026-35361?

Upgrade rust-coreutils on debian unstable to 0.6.0-1 or later.

Is CVE-2026-35361 being actively exploited?

Not that we know of. CVE-2026-35361 is not in the CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog. Its EPSS score of 0.14% is the estimated probability that it will be exploited in the next 30 days. That is higher than 4% of all scored CVEs.

How severe is CVE-2026-35361?

CVE-2026-35361 has a CVSS v3 base score of 3.4, rated low. CVSS rates the technical impact if the vulnerability is exploited, not how likely that is, so weigh it alongside the exploit-prediction score when you decide what to patch first.

What does CVE-2026-35361 affect?

Published advisories record a fix for rust-coreutils (Debian). Only products with a sourced advisory are listed, so treat this as what we can cite rather than a complete inventory.
