CVE-2026-118773
MEDIUMDescription
Glob matches files using patterns the shell uses. From 9.0.0 until 14.0.2, abort branches in src/walker.ts, including GlobUtil.walkCB(), GlobUtil.walkCB2(), GlobUtil.walkCBSync(), and GlobUtil.walkCB2Sync(), invoke the callbacks without returning. After AbortSignal or AbortSignal.timeout() rejects or emits an error, execution can continue into processor.processPatterns(), readdirCB(), and recursive traversal. The issue affects glob() and globStream() when applications expose attacker-influenced patterns or directory trees and rely on cancellation as a traversal budget. Repeated timed-out requests can stack background filesystem operations and CPU work, degrading worker throughput or service availability; no confidentiality or integrity impact was observed. This issue is fixed in 14.0.2.

Common questions
How do I fix CVE-2026-118773?
Upgrade glob to 14.0.2 or later.
Is CVE-2026-118773 being actively exploited?
Not that we know of. CVE-2026-118773 is not in the CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog. Its EPSS score of 0.35% is the estimated probability that it will be exploited in the next 30 days. That is higher than 29% of all scored CVEs.
How severe is CVE-2026-118773?
CVE-2026-118773 has a CVSS v4 base score of 6.3, rated medium. CVSS rates the technical impact if the vulnerability is exploited, not how likely that is, so weigh it alongside the exploit-prediction score when you decide what to patch first.
What does CVE-2026-118773 affect?
Published advisories record a fix for glob (npm). Only products with a sourced advisory are listed, so treat this as what we can cite rather than a complete inventory.
