CVE-2026-107720
HIGHDescription
fast-jwt provides fast JSON Web Token (JWT) implementation. Prior to 6.3.1, fast-jwt createVerifier accepts an unsigned JWT when key is an empty string or null and algorithms is a non-empty allowlist. Falsy synchronous keys bypass prepareKeyOrSecret, allowedAlgorithms remains active, hasKey is false, and the empty signature avoids the verifySignature gate. An attacker can therefore submit a token containing arbitrary claims without possessing a signing key, resulting in authentication or authorization bypass. Claim validators still run, and non-empty keys, an empty key without algorithms, and the async key resolver path do not have this behavior. This issue is fixed in version 6.3.1.

Common questions
How do I fix CVE-2026-107720?
Upgrade fast-jwt to 6.3.1 or later.
Is CVE-2026-107720 being actively exploited?
Not that we know of. CVE-2026-107720 is not in the CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog. Its EPSS score of 0.26% is the estimated probability that it will be exploited in the next 30 days. That is higher than 16% of all scored CVEs.
How severe is CVE-2026-107720?
CVE-2026-107720 has a CVSS v3 base score of 7.4, rated high. CVSS rates the technical impact if the vulnerability is exploited, not how likely that is, so weigh it alongside the exploit-prediction score when you decide what to patch first.
What does CVE-2026-107720 affect?
Published advisories record a fix for fast-jwt (npm). Only products with a sourced advisory are listed, so treat this as what we can cite rather than a complete inventory.
