CVE-2022-48939

LOW
3.3
CVSS v3
NVD

Description

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf: Add schedule points in batch ops syzbot reported various soft lockups caused by bpf batch operations. INFO: task kworker/1:1:27 blocked for more than 140 seconds. INFO: task hung in rcu_barrier Nothing prevents batch ops to process huge amount of data, we need to add schedule points in them. Note that maybe_wait_bpf_programs(map) calls from generic_map_delete_batch() can be factorized by moving the call after the loop. This will be done later in -next tree once we get this fix merged, unless there is strong opinion doing this optimization sooner.

Common questions

How do I fix CVE-2022-48939?

Published advisories record a fix for 119 affected products. The "How to fix" section on this page lists the fixed version and source advisory for each one, so apply the entry matching what you actually run.

Is CVE-2022-48939 being actively exploited?

Not that we know of. CVE-2022-48939 is not in the CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog. Its EPSS score of 0.20% is the estimated probability that it will be exploited in the next 30 days. That is higher than 10% of all scored CVEs.

How severe is CVE-2022-48939?

CVE-2022-48939 has a CVSS v3 base score of 3.3, rated low. CVSS rates the technical impact if the vulnerability is exploited, not how likely that is, so weigh it alongside the exploit-prediction score when you decide what to patch first.

What does CVE-2022-48939 affect?

Published advisories record a fix for linux (Debian), bpftool (Rocky), bpftool (Red Hat / RHEL), bpftool-debuginfo (Red Hat / RHEL), and 115 more. Only products with a sourced advisory are listed, so treat this as what we can cite rather than a complete inventory.
