A flaw was found in rsyslog. An unauthenticated remote attacker can trigger a heap buffer overflow in the RainerScript `replace()` function by sending specially crafted syslog messages. This vulnerability arises from an incorrect buffer size calculation during string replacement, causing memory corruption. Successful exploitation can lead to a denial of service (DoS) for the affected system.

rsync 3.2.3 before 3.5.0 contains an out-of-bounds write in parse_size_arg() where the return value of snprintf() is used directly as an index into a .bss-segment array without bounds checking. When snprintf truncates the formatted size string, the return value equals the number of characters that would have been written including the truncated portion, and this value may exceed the array length. The subsequent indexed write targets memory outside the intended array bounds, corrupting .bss memory.

Wazuh is a free and open source platform used for threat prevention, detection, and response. From 1.0.0 until 4.14.6 and 5.0.0-beta2, HandleSecureMessage() in src/remoted/secure.c passes a pointer inside its stack buffer to ReadSecMSG(), and src/os_crypto/shared/msgs.c decompresses up to OS_MAXSTR bytes at that offset. For an encrypted agent message on TCP port 1514 that expands to 65,536 bytes, os_zlib_uncompress() writes a terminating null byte beyond the end of the destination buffer. The resulting stack out-of-bounds write in the root-level remoted daemon can crash message processing and disrupt agent communications. This issue is fixed in versions 4.14.6 and 5.0.0-beta2.

jxl-oxide is a pure Rust implementation of a JPEG XL decoder. Prior to jxl-grid 0.6.2, decoding a crafted JPEG XL image on a 32-bit platform can overflow length calculations in AlignedGrid::with_alloc_tracker and related grid and subgrid arithmetic. A 65536 x 65536 frame can pass the frame-area limit while overflowing the usize element count, causing modular, VarDCT, or filter rendering paths to allocate a backing buffer smaller than the logical grid. A tiny bitstream-controlled cropped frame combined with a huge canvas or requested region can also reach the vulnerable composition path in crates/jxl-render/src/blend.rs through ordinary render_frame(). Later mutable subgrid and raw-pointer operations can then perform attacker-controlled out-of-bounds writes, causing memory corruption, denia

The attack may be launched remotely. The exploit has been disclosed publicly and may be used. The name of the patch is 66b10bda8895f4bfaf8c205361f0125cdf51f99b. A heap-based buffer overflow vulnerability exists in the GIMP DDS (DirectDraw Surface) file parser. When a crafted DDS file declares a D3D9 pixel format but sets a lower bits-per-pixel (bpp) value in the header, the loader allocates an undersized heap buffer. Subsequent pixel data consumption at the real format's stride causes a write past the heap buffer boundary, leading to heap metadata corruption and potential code execution.

A heap-buffer-overflow vulnerability exists in the APNG (Animated PNG) file loader of GIMP. This flaw occurs when the `fcTL` width exceeds the `IHDR` width, leading to pixel data being written past the end of a heap allocation. Additionally, a heap-based buffer overflow exists in the DDS plug-in due to a BPP mismatch in the `load_layer()` function. Both vulnerabilities can be triggered by opening a specially crafted image file, potentially leading to code execution.

Incorrect Calculation of Buffer Size vulnerability in Apache NimBLE when processing Legacy Advertising Report HCI event. When a single HCI advertising report event bundles multiple reports, NimBLE miscalculated the offset to the next report. This can cause the host to read past the end of the buffer and deliver a GAP event with bogus data to the application. Severity is low: NimBLE's own controller never batches multiple reports into one event, so this only matters when NimBLE's host is paired with a third-party controller that does. This issue affects Apache NimBLE: through 1.9.0. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 1.10.0, which fixes the issue.

FFmpeg versions 3.0 through 8.1.2 contain an out-of-bounds write vulnerability in the vf_swaprect video filter that allows attackers to corrupt heap memory by supplying a crafted NV12 video frame with odd width dimensions. The filter_frame() function reuses a temporary row buffer sized for plane 0's single-byte pixel step across all planes, causing an 18-byte memcpy into a 17-byte heap allocation when processing the two-byte-per-sample interleaved chroma plane of a 17x16 NV12 frame, resulting in heap corruption and process crash with potential for code execution.

When config_input() allocates the points traversal stack based on initial frame dimensions and a subsequent larger frame is processed, filter_frame() performs flood-fill neighbor pushes beyond the original allocation boundary, resulting in heap corruption and process crash with potential for code execution depending on heap layout and process hardening.

Prior to version 3.24.2, in persistent_cache_read_entry_v3() in libfreerdp/cache/persistent.c, persistent->bmpSize is updated before winpr_aligned_recalloc(). If realloc fails, bmpSize is inflated while bmpData points to the old buffer. This issue has been patched in version 3.24.2.

FreeRDP is a free implementation of the Remote Desktop Protocol. Prior to version 3.24.2, in yuv_ensure_buffer() in libfreerdp/codec/h264.c, h264->width and h264->height are updated before the reallocation loop. If any winpr_aligned_recalloc() call fails, the function returns FALSE but width/height are already inflated. This issue has been patched in version 3.24.2.

  • CVSS 5.9 v3·EPSS 0.2%·Fix available

FreeRDP is a free implementation of the Remote Desktop Protocol. Prior to version 3.24.2, pixel data from adjacent heap memory is rendered to screen, potentially leaking sensitive data to the attacker. This issue has been patched in version 3.24.2.

FreeRDP is a free implementation of the Remote Desktop Protocol. Prior to version 3.24.2, in resize_vbar_entry() in libfreerdp/codec/clear.c, vBarEntry->size is updated to vBarEntry->count before the winpr_aligned_recalloc() call. If realloc fails, size is inflated while pixels still points to the old, smaller buffer. On a subsequent call where count <= size (the inflated value), realloc is skipped. The caller then writes count * bpp bytes of attacker-controlled pixel data into the undersized buffer, causing a heap buffer overflow. This issue has been patched in version 3.24.2.
