CVE-2026-6540

HIGH
7.5
CVSS v3
NVD

Description

Calico's Application Layer Policy (disabled by default), which enforces HTTP rules through Dikastes, fails to perform URL path normalization. As a result, HTTP requests using path-traversal segments, encoded slashes, or repeated slashes are not correctly evaluated by Prefix path rules. Dikastes authorizes the request under the permitted prefix while the downstream workload or a fronting proxy normalizes the path and serves the restricted endpoint. An attacker with network access and no special RBAC can potentially reach HTTP endpoints the policy was intended to restrict.

Upgrade calico to 3.22.4 or later.

Is CVE-2026-6540 being actively exploited?

Not that we know of. CVE-2026-6540 is not in the CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog. Its EPSS score of 0.37% is the estimated probability that it will be exploited in the next 30 days. That is higher than 29% of all scored CVEs.

How severe is CVE-2026-6540?

CVE-2026-6540 has a CVSS v3 base score of 7.5, rated high. CVSS rates the technical impact if the vulnerability is exploited, not how likely that is, so weigh it alongside the exploit-prediction score when you decide what to patch first.
